Follow this guide if your Wii won’t read a Game Disc, Game Discs eject on their own or you get error messages when loading a Game Disc.
Before reading this guide, it is important to know that Wii consoles will only play Wii and Nintendo GameCube Game Discs.
Attempting to play other discs such as DVDs or CDs will result in the message ‘Unable to read the disc’.
Make sure that you are loading the disc correctly.
If your console is positioned vertically – e.g. in its stand – then the disc label should face to the right when being placed in your Wii. If your console is positioned horizontally, the disc label should face upwards.
If this is the case, your Wii console will need to be fixed.
You can book your Wii in for inspection by the Nintendo Customer Support Team.
It’s important to discover whether these issues are caused by the Game Disc, your Wii console, or both.
In order to find out what’s causing the issues, you should follow the advice on the following topics depending on what problems you’re experiencing:
I’m having problems with one Game Disc …
I’m having problems with some Game Discs…
I’m having problems with all of my Game Discs…
