If one or more games stops working while you’re playing, read the instructions below.
Occasional lockups do happen, and it is not always the case that your Wii or Game Disc will need to be replaced. However, if it happens frequently, you should follow the guide below.
Usually the power, reset and eject buttons will not respond when a game freezes. If this happens, unplug the AC Adapter from the back of the console. It may be that your Wii is not well ventilated, so see below for details.
Using the stand provided is the best way to keep your Wii cool, and you should keep the hole in front of the vent clear at all times. If there is a build-up of dust in the system’s vents your Wii may overheat, causing the screen to freeze. Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment to remove any excess dust.
Any products you use that are not licensed by Nintendo have not been through the strict testing process, and may have compatibility issues with your Wii. Make sure you use licensed Nintendo products with your Wii.
If only one Game Disc is affected, read the instructions from I’m having problems with one Game Disc …
If more than one game is affected, but it’s not an issue with all of your games, follow the guide from I’m having problems with some – but not all – of my Game Discs…
If all of your Game Discs are freezing during play it’s likely that there is a problem with your console, so you’ll need to send it back to be checked over.
You can book your Wii in for inspection by the Nintendo Customer Support Team.
