My screen is damaged and discoloured…

Applies to: Nintendo DS, NIntendo DSi, Nintendo DSi XL, Nintendo DS Lite

Summary

Read this article if one of your screens looks as though the colour is leaking out of it – even when your system is turned off.

Diagnosing the issue

If this is the case, it’s likely that your LCD screen has broken. This problem is usually noticeable when the system is being used. Hairline cracks will appear on the LCD screen, and the liquid crystals inside will spread themselves out, eventually leading to a breakage. This happens when the system has been dropped, crushed or exposed to extremes of temperature.
