Diagnosing the issue
The Power Button on the Nintendo DS systems has been designed to be difficult to push, so that you don’t accidentally switch your system off while you’re playing. Make sure you’re pressing the button with enough force.

My Nintendo DS won’t switch off. What can I do?
Hold down the Power Button for at least four seconds. If this doesn’t work, try removing, and then replacing the battery.
